SEGURIDAD :
Santiago es una ciudad segura, pero como en toda metrópolis es conveniente tomar precauciones. No exhiba joyas costosas ni descuide la cartera, cámara fotográfica o de video. No camine de noche por parques ni cerros.Utilice la caja de seguridad de su hotel. En todo Chile son comunes los temblores. No se preocupe por daños ya que existen altos estándares en construcción antisísmica. Protéjase bajo un techo si está caminando por la calle, para evitar caída de objetos de pisos superiores. Confie en Carabineros en caso de cualquier problema.

SECURITY :
Santiago is a safe city but, as in every metropolis, it`s advisable to take some precautions: don`t display expensive jewelry or be careless of your purse or camera. Don`t walk alone in parks or hills at nigth. Use the safety deposit box at your hotel.
Earthquakes are common in Chile.Don`t be afraid that you will suffer any damage apart from the scare, because buildings in Chile conform to high ant seismic standards. If you are walking on the street, look for shelter under a roof to avoid getting hurt by falling objects. Trust the police ( Carabineros) in any problem situation.

DISCAPACITADOS :
Por ley los nuevos edificios poseen facilidades para discapacitados y la mayoría de las veredas de Santiago están adaptadas para su comodidad , especialmente en el barrio alto. Los Mall poseen estacionamientos reservados, baños y teléfonos adecuados a sus necesidades y taxis acondicionados.

DISABLED PEOPLE:
By law, all new buildings are equipped with facilities for disabled people and the sidewalks have been refurbished to cater to wheeelchairs, especially in upper city. Malls have special parking spaces, bathrooms and telephones for needs and there are special taxis available.

CONDUCIENDO:
Para arrendar un auto necesita licencia de conducir de su país de origen o internacional, pasaporte y tarjeta de crédito. La velocidad máxima en zona urbana es de 60 km. por hora a menos que se indique algunas restricción. Respételas, Carabineros le emitirá una infracción si no respeta las reglas del tránsito. Jamás trate de sobornarlo.
Si arrendó un auto y tiene un accidente o robo reportelo en la Comisaría de Carabineros más cercana. Dicho reporte es necesario para la Compañía arrendadora.

DRIVING :
To rent a car, you need to have license from your country of origin or an International one. Passport and a credit card. the maximum speed in the the city is 37.5 mph ( 60 Kms/Hr) and on higways it is 75 mph ( 120 Kms/hrs), unless otherwise posted. You must respect the speed limits. Otherwise Police will get you. Don´t ever attempt to bribe them.
If you rent a car and have an accident or are robbed you must report it as soon as possible to the nearest police station. You will need the record given to you by police, to notify the car rental firm.
